Dr. Chris Steele
Research Meteorologist and IT Specialist

Originally from Bury, but spending the early years of his life in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, Chris began his obsession in meteorology from the early age of 5. What simply began as being glued to the daily weather forecast was developed further in later years by the completion of his BSc in Meteorology and Oceanography at the University of East Anglia. In 2009, Chris began his PhD in Coastal Meteorology and successfully published his work on simulating sea breeze types offshore.

Chris is a member of the Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS) and the Tornado and Storm Research Organisation (TORRO). He is currently working for Weatherquest, implementing the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model, verifying model performance against observations and conducting further research in weather forecasting. He is a keen snooker and pool player, and has also recently taken up storm chasing in the Great Plains of the USA.
